Stalinist Period in Czechoslovakia - Its Interpretation and Teaching in Secondary Education

1950s may be classified as one of the worst periods in Czechoslovakia's history. The totalitarian communist regime in the period between 1948 and 1953 is called the Stalinism. The primary objective hereof was to evaluate teaching about the Stalinism period in Czechoslovakia in secondary schools, in particular, to assess the scope of correctness and completeness of the related curriculum and teaching methods. The secondary objective hereof was to introduce and describe the Stalinism as a typical example of totalitarianism and to define crucial elements of this non-democratic form of government using the example of Czechoslovakia from 1948 to 1953. The thesis proceeds from the theoretical part via a case study to the practical part. The first part classifies totalitarianism, defines its historical outset and determines its main features. The second chapter describes and explains the Stalinism, which is a typical example of totalitarianism having functioned in practice in the Soviet Union from where it spread to the majority of the Communist countries, including Czechoslovakia. The third chapter explains the practical application of the Stalinism elements and methods used to control a society according to the Soviet model using the example of Czechoslovakia from 1948 to 1953. Level of the Protection of Human Rights in the Russian Federation

The main objective of this bachelor thesis entitled 'The Level of the Protection of Human Rights in the Russian Federation' is to describe and analyse the current situation of the protection of human rights and freedoms in the Russian Federation. At the same time, it tries to find answers to the question, what is the level of the protection of human rights in this country? After the more general interpretation of the concept of human rights and an overview of the development of human rights in the Russian Federation, the thesis concentrates on the issue of the Russian substantive and procedural law of human rights. The following is a list of state, non-governmental and international organizations, centers, and clubs dealing with the protection of human rights. In the final chapter are pointed out flagrant violations of human rights. To illustrate human rights abuses, specific cases are also documented. Life story of the political prisoner Josef Staněk

The thesis maps one of the political trials taking place in 1950s in the communistic Czechoslovakia. It looks into the life story of political prisoner Josef Staněk who was sentenced to 16 years in prison in the political trial of Fürst and company on 31 January 1952. Later, his sentence was shortened to 8 years in prison. The main part of work based on historical resources reconstructs the whole court trial and the following years of imprisonment. A separate chapter describes the life of Josef Staněk before his arrest.From 1937 to 1951 he was a member of the police force. From 1 September 1949 he was the chief constable of National Police Force. Final part deals with the period after his release from prison.

This bachelor thesis "Liberated Political Prisoners Association 1945-1948" aims to present and survey this postwar resistance organization, since its inception in spring 1945 until the merger with other organizations of resistance in Czechoslovak republic. Into this organization immediately after the war joined all prisoners, who were arrested by the Nazis or were thrown into concentration camps for their political resistance movement during World War II and a bereaved after them. Number of members in the largest expansion of the organization was around 80 000th. The thesis describes the origin and development of the organization and its structure. It also focuses on its activities and cooperation with other domestic and foreign organizations of resistance.
